Max the Explorer

Max is a super crawler now!  He loves to crawl all over the house, and he especially likes to play, "Where did Mommy go?"  Which means that if I leave the room, he follows me to check things out.

He also REALLY likes to crawl under the coffee table and hang out under there.  Maybe it's safer?  Less chance on Luke or Kyle stepping on him?  Whatever his motivation, he thinks its fun and hilarious.  He giggles and coos the whole time.

The coffee table isn't just good for crawling under.  He also enjoys pulling up on his feet and scooting all around the edge.  He's recently discovered that he can pull up on a lot of things.  Today he decided to help me with my tutoring by taking out all the things in the tutoring basket.

Can someone tell this boy that he's only nine months old tomorrow?

Trick or Treat! from Kyle

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!

I got the idea for my pumpkin from Polyphemus the Cyclops that Odysseus fought.
I'm using my pirate hook to poke his eye!

This is Luke, he's behind his pumpkin and Max's pumpkin.  His has triangle eyes.

Here we are right before going Trick or Treating.  I trick or treated with my friend Kian for awhile.  Then we had to go home for Luke to take a break, and I dumped out my candy so I could get more.  We went trick or treating all over the neighborhood.
I got a lot of candy.
I got a whole bag full, so much that my bag broke!

This is a picture that Dad took when it was dark.  I thought it looked SCARY at first.

Luke's pumpkin is the one that has triangle eyes, and Max's pumpkin has circle eyes.  Luke's pumpkin is smaller than Max's, but that's what he picked out!

I had a fun Halloween!!

Halloween Party

This is my last post tonight, I promise.
This is what I do when I'm in between books and Jeff is in class.  =)

Luke and Kyle getting in to character for the Halloween party.

It's a mad dash to pop the balloons with money inside.

Luke taking care of the pinata, since he has the big spiderman muscles.

Spectators...

Max is a purple dragon, not a purple dinosaur.

BOUNCE!!

Olivia bouncing with the Garrison boys.

Pumpkin Patch

Luke, Max, and Kyle at the Pumpkin Patch

We even got a family picture.  It's a miracle!

We had a lot of fun in (and on top of) the hay maze.

Also in October, a few pictures from around the house.
Kyle being a great brother.

And a lesson in why Luke MUST have a nap, even though a lot of his friends don't.

Rocket Launch 2009

Kyle's cub scout pack had their annual rocket launch this month, and Kyle had two successful launches.  There were also some larger model rockets on display.

Kyle learned how to launch his rocket using the remote set up.

And then he started the count down...

5,4,3,2,1....

His is the one in the middle that is launching!

Retreival, and then go again!

The cheering section....

Brazos Bend

We took the boys out to Brazos Bend to enjoy some of the beautiful weather we've been having.  It was a lot of fun!  I haven't been out there for awhile, but we'll be going back more often.  It's very pretty and there are a lot of great trails to try out.

We enjoyed a picnic by 40 acre lake and a playground before hitting the trails.
Max loves to have new things to look at, so he was very happy!

Kyle and Luke had fun on the old school playground.  Apparently this style of playground is completely unsafe, and some sort of death trap.
I didn't ever get hurt on one, and so far the boys seem to be coping.  =)

Then we were off to explore the lake and look for some alligators.

We didn't have to look very far before we spotted the first one.

We also spotted a lot of gorgeous birds.  This blue heron was beautiful, and we were able to get very close to it.

Of course we also saw another alligator shortly thereafter.  See how it's opening its mouth?  That's how alligators say, "Listen to your wife and step back a little!"

Luckily no one was harmed in the making of this blog.  The kids and I were a good 30 feet back the whole time, but Jeff is quite the daredevil.
Anyways, after that excitement we headed for the nature center to meet some alligators under more controlled circumstances.

Luke really liked the exhibits, especially making the alligator and crocodile mouths open and close.

Turkeys....

Kyle and Luke petting a baby alligator.

After our nature center fun, we stopped for a snack and then went for another quick hike.

It was a lovely day!
